The Secret to
Success
Once you begin to believe in yourself and know why
you stopped
dreaming, you will soon realize what the secret to
success is not.
It’s not talent, it’s not good looks, and it’s not
a college degree.
The secret to success is DESIRE.
Desire
is the secret that most
people overlook because they’re too busy worrying
about the
things they think they don’t have.
DESIRE!! It’s more powerful than any
other ingredient in the
success formula. Some people want to win so
badly that they
can’t stand it. They get up every morning
and go to bed every
night dreaming about winning…succeeding!
Even though their
head tells them they can’t, something deep inside
tells them that
they’ve got to.
You may or may not have heard of this before, but
it says more
about the desire to succeed than anything I’ve
ever heard. Our
nation’s greatest leader knew defeat throughout
his life. He lost
eight elections, failed in business twice, and
suffered a nervous
breakdown. His path to success looked like
this:
1831 – Failed in business.
1832 – Defeated for legislature.
1833 – Second failure in business.
1836 – Suffered nervous breakdown.
1838 – Defeated for Speaker of the House.
1840 – Defeated for elector.
1843 – Defeated for Congress.
1848 – Defeated for Congress.
1855 – Defeated for Senate.
1856 – Defeated for vice president.
1858 – Defeated for Senate.
1860 – ELECTED PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES.
Abraham Lincoln was someone who never
stopped competing,
even with a pattern of failure that would have
left most of us
devastated. He just kept competing until he
won.
DESIRE. It’s the ingredient that
causes people to devote their
entire lives to a dream and keep moving toward it,
no matter how
tough. It’s the intangible that has more
impact on success than
talent, education, or IQ. You can’t see
desire, but you can feel
its presence and see its results in the lives of
successful people.
DESIRE has a power all its own. It’s
not just a fluke. Desire is
such a powerful force because once you act on your
desire, a
pattern develops that will take you a long way
down the road
to success.
Believe in yourself and if you’ve got desire, you
can be anything
you want to be in America today, provided you
have two things:
a specific goal and a plan. WAHMNET offers us both the goal
and a plan. Grab onto it, run with it, and
don’t let go!!
